Itinerary :
D 1-3: Arrival in Antananarivo (Tana) & Transfer to the South
D 1: Arrive in Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar.
Explore the city: Visit the Royal Palace, Andafiavaratra Palace, and the Analakely market.Stay overnight in a hotel in Antananarivo.
D 2-3: Antananarivo to Fianarantsoa (The Deep South)
Depart for Fianarantsoa, a scenic 7-hour drive south. Explore Fianarantsoa, the cultural capital of Madagascar.Visit the old town with its colonial architecture, local markets, and churches. Take a trip to nearby Berea and the Tsaranoro Valley for stunning views of the Tsaratanana Massif. Stay overnight in Fianarantsoa.
D 4-5: Isalo National Park (The Deep South)
D 4: Travel from Fianarantsoa to Isalo National Park (about 4-5 hours).
Isalo is famous for its rock formations, canyons, and natural pools. Hike through the park, visiting iconic spots like La Piscine Naturelle and the Canyon des Makis. Explore the Isalo Massif, with its incredible wildlife, including lemurs, birds, and reptiles. Stay overnight in a lodge near the park.
D 5: Continue exploring Isalo.
Spend the day hiking, discovering the Chapel of Isalo and the window of Isalo, and swimming in natural pools surrounded by massive sandstone cliffs. Evening relaxation at your lodge.
D 6: Drive from Isalo to Tuléar (3-4 hours).
Explore the coastal town of Tuléar, including the Antsokay Arboretum, a botanical garden showcasing the unique plant species of Madagascar.
Visit the Museum of Art and Traditions in Tulear.
D 7: Day trip to Ifaty (about 30 minutes from Tuléar).
Relax on the beaches of Ifaty, known for its coral reefs and water sports like snorkeling and diving. Explore the spiny forest for unique flora and fauna, such as the baobab trees and birdlife.Stay overnight in a
D 8: Fly from Tuléar to Antananarivo.
Rest and relax for the night in Antananarivo after your travels in the south.
D 9: Travel east to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park (around 4 hours).
Explore the rainforest in this park, famous for its Indri lemurs and other endemic wildlife like chameleons.
Visit the Vakona Reserve and the Lemur Island, where you’ll have close encounters with various lemur species.
D 10: From Andasibe, head east to Toamasina (Tamatave), the largest port city (5-6 hours).
Explore the coastal town and visit Pangalanes Canal or Ivoloina Park for a nature walk. Spend the night in Toamasina.
D 11: Travel to Nosy Boraha (Île Sainte-Marie) (by plane or boat from Toamasina).
Relax on the beach, explore the island’s whale-watching opportunities (in season), and visit the Pirate Cemetery.Stay in a beachfront resort for a few days.
D 13: Fly or drive from Antananarivo to Morondava on the west coast (this journey may take a full day by road).
Visit the Avenue of the Baobabs, a unique and iconic stretch of towering baobab trees at sunset. Explore the surrounding Kirindy Forest, known for its fossas (cousins of the mongoose) and various lemur species.
Stay overnight in Morondava or a nearby lodge.
D 14: Explore the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site (2-3 hours from Morondava).
The park features dramatic limestone formations, caves, and unique flora and fauna. You can enjoy a day of hiking and spotting endemic species. Return to Antananarivo by flight or road for departure.
D 15: Departure from Antananarivo
Spend the final day in Antananarivo, shopping for souvenirs or visiting local sites before your flight departs.
